Service Description

At Aspire Academy NZ, we know that true development begins with clarity. Our Athlete Assessment provides a complete snapshot of an athlete’s physical performance, highlighting strengths, pinpointing weaknesses, and mapping out a clear path forward. Using proven sport science methods and professional technology, this service equips athletes, parents, and coaches with the knowledge needed to guide training with purpose and confidence. What We Test Tailored for athletes aged 8–18 across all sports, our testing combines accuracy, safety, and relevance. Using laser timing technology, strength measures, and — for some athletes — VBT (velocity-based training) devices, we assess across five key areas: 1. Speed & Agility 30m Sprint with 0–15m & 15–30m splits (acceleration and top speed). Agility Test (5-10-5) measuring quick changes of direction. 2. Power & Explosiveness Vertical Jump and Broad Jump to test lower-body force and explosiveness. Depth Drop to assess landing mechanics, stability, and control. 3. Strength Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull (maximum force). Grip Strength (left and right hand). Chin-Ups for relative upper-body strength. 4. Movement & Coordination Sprint mechanics analysis covering stride, posture, and arm action. Fundamental lifts: Squat and Romanian Deadlift (RDL) assessed for mobility, control, and technique. 5. Conditioning & Core Plank hold to measure core strength and endurance. Push-ups in 60 seconds for upper-body strength endurance. What You Receive Following the assessment, every athlete receives a comprehensive individualised report including: Clear test results with age and sport benchmarks. Technical feedback on sprinting, lifting, and landing technique. Coach observations on effort, mindset, and coachability. Key work-ons with practical, actionable training recommendations. Structured next steps outlining the most effective development pathway. Why It Matters Objective insight: Take the guesswork out of training. Personalized development: Focus on what matters most for your athlete. Motivation: Measurable data inspires progress and goal setting. Injury prevention: Identify movement issues before they cause problems. Track development: Reassess over time to monitor improvements and guide long-term growth. Whether your child is beginning their sporting journey or preparing for higher-level competition, Aspire Academy’s Athlete Assessment is the foundation for unlocking their athletic potential and building long-term success.
